TRIP 41: LOBETHAL

ONKAPARINGA WOOLLEN MILL MUSEUM

SALA EXHIBITION 'BLANKETS RE-IMAGINED'

THE HIGHLIGHTS

THANKS SO MUCH TO BESSIEANDMAIVE FOR ALERTING ME TO THE 'BLANKETS RE-IMAGINED' EXHIBITION AS THE ONKAPARINGA WOOLLEN MILLS AT LOBETHAL, IN THE BEAUTIFUL ADELAIDE HILLS.
THE BEAUTY: LOOKING FOR A PUZZLE FOR SOMEONE ELSE AND STUMBLED ALONG THIS BEAUTY. ALWAYS LOVED THIS PHOTO OF BETTY.
THE BONUS: WHEN YOU CAN'T FOR THE LIFE OF YOU FIND THE OP SHOP, DON'T FORGET TO LOOK IN THE BASEMENT CAR PARK.

SO BEAUTIFUL THAT THE LAST 200 EMPLOYEES OF THE ONKAPARINGA WOOLLEN MILLS WERE EACH GIVEN THEIR OWN COMMEMORATIVE RUG WHEN THE MILL CLOSED IN 1993

THE EXHIBITION INCLUDED WORK FROM OVER 40 ARTISTS AND SOME PIECES FROM THE MUSEUM

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PIECES, 'SECURITY BLANKET' BY GRACE MARLOW

MY FAVOURITE PIECE OF ALL MADE WITH MY IDEAL STYLE OF BLANKET. SOME OTHER LUCKY PERSON BOUGHT THIS BEFORE I COULD SNAP IT UP.

IT WAS SUCH A PLEASURE SPENDING TIME WITH BRONWEN AND SHARING BLANKET STORIES.

THANKS TO KIM AND CO FOR ORGANISING AND CURATING THIS WONDERFUL EXHIBITION. SEEING THESE PIECES OF AUSTRALIAN HISTORY USED, UPCYCLED AND PRESERVED WAS A REAL TREAT AND WELL WORTH THE DRIVE TO SOUTH AUSTRALIA!
